This book starts with the basics about yarns and needles (even how to hold your needles), and continues with detailed instructions of how to cast on and bind off. This is quite possibly the most insightful, existential book I've ever read. I would read this every night to a young child and love it. He believes the man's death is connected to the illegal transportation of refuse - and more sinister material - in his company's trucks. This book is well along in the Nick Stone Series (number 14) so the author must have a following of some form. They smoke cigarettes pretty much all the time (the rituals of that habit are painstakingly observed). She is now one of the most amazing, independent, kind, loving, rule following people I know.
